Worka Chelchele, Ethiopia | 150gm

This coffee comes from the Gedeb highlands in southern Ethiopia, produced by smallholder farmers whose ripe cherries are delivered daily to the Banko Chelchele Station. Situated at around 2,000 masl, the region is surrounded by cool mountain mists, fertile red-brown soils, and high-altitude terrain. These conditions create a slow and stable cherry maturation process, allowing sugars, acidity, and aromatic compounds to develop gradually within the fruit.

The high elevation and cool climate contribute to dense, expressive beans with the floral and citrus characteristics that Gedeb coffees are known for. Large temperature shifts between warm days and cool nights further slow cherry development, helping to concentrate sweetness and preserve the coffee’s bright, structured acidity.

This lot is fully washed and undergoes 48–72 hours of open-tank fermentation at Banko Chelchele Station before the cherries are washed clean. Careful fermentation, washing, and drying help preserve the clarity and delicate structure of the coffee, allowing its floral aromatics, bright citrus acidity, and refined sweetness to remain prominent in the cup.

Known as “Seri Biru Gedeb”, meaning “radiant blue”, the name reflects the coffee’s high floral lift and bright, refreshing character. The lot captures the qualities we look for in Gedeb coffees — clarity, florality, vibrant acidity, and a clean, elegant finish.
