You don’t need a coffee machine, grinder or a shelf full of brewing equipment to enjoy a great cup of specialty coffee.
With a drip coffee bag, all you need is a mug, hot water and a few minutes.
At Oaks Coffee Roasters, our drip bags are made with freshly roasted coffee and designed to make brewing specialty coffee simple and accessible. Available in Cerrado NY2 from Brazil and Alo Chilaka from Ethiopia, each drip bag gives you an easy way to enjoy freshly roasted coffee at home, at work or wherever your day takes you.
What Is a Drip Coffee Bag?
A drip coffee bag is essentially a single-serving coffee filter that comes pre-filled with freshly ground coffee. The bag is designed to sit directly over your mug, allowing you to brew coffee by pouring hot water through the grounds.
Unlike traditional pour-over coffee, you don't need a separate dripper, paper filter or coffee grinder. Everything is already portioned and ready to brew.
It is one of the simplest ways to enjoy freshly roasted specialty coffee without compromising on the brewing experience.
How to Brew a Drip Coffee Bag
Our recommended brew recipe is simple:
Water: 180g
Pours: 3
Brew time: Approximately 2 minutes
Step 1: Open the Drip Bag
Tear open the outer packaging and remove the drip bag.
Carefully open the filter and hook the sides securely onto your mug. Make sure the bag is sitting comfortably and securely before you start pouring.
Step 2: Pour Slowly and Evenly
Using hot water, begin pouring slowly over the coffee grounds.
We recommend brewing in 3 pours, gradually adding water until you reach a total of 180g.
Pour gently and evenly, allowing the water to pass through the coffee grounds between each pour. A slow and controlled pour helps ensure that the coffee is extracted evenly.
Step 3: Let It Drip and Enjoy
Allow the coffee to finish dripping through the filter. This should take approximately 2 minutes.
Once the coffee has finished dripping, carefully remove the bag from your mug and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.
For a stronger or more concentrated cup, you can adjust the amount of water to your preference.
Which Drip Bag Should You Choose?
Our drip bags are currently available in two coffees, each offering a different flavour profile.
Cerrado NY2, Brazil
If you enjoy a smooth, comforting and chocolate-forward cup, Cerrado NY2 is a great place to start.
This Brazilian coffee features notes of caramel, hazelnuts and dark cocoa, making it sweet, balanced and approachable. It is an easy everyday coffee that works especially well as your morning brew.
Alo Chilaka, Ethiopia
If you prefer bright, fruity and expressive coffees, Alo Chilaka from Ethiopia is the one to reach for.
Produced by Tamiru Tadesse and grown at 2,500 MASL, this coffee undergoes a 240-hour anaerobic natural process, creating a vibrant and intensely aromatic cup. Expect notes of pineapple, mango and honey, with a tropical fruit character balanced by a naturally sweet finish.
It is an especially good choice for those who enjoy lighter-roasted specialty coffee with pronounced fruit flavours.
Why Choose Drip Coffee Bags?
Drip coffee bags are a convenient way to brew freshly roasted coffee without needing a full coffee setup.
They're particularly useful if you:
- Don't own a coffee grinder
- Don't have a pour-over setup
- Want freshly roasted coffee at work
- Are travelling and still want good coffee
- Prefer individually portioned coffee
- Want an easy introduction to specialty coffee
The coffee is already ground and portioned, so there is very little preparation involved. Just open the bag, pour your water and let it drip.
Tips for a Better Cup of Drip Coffee
A few small details can make a difference to your brew.
Use good-quality water. Coffee is mostly water, so using clean, filtered water can help produce a clearer and more enjoyable cup.
Pour slowly. Avoid pouring all the water at once. A slower, controlled pour allows the water to interact more evenly with the coffee grounds.
Use the recommended water amount. Starting with 180g of water gives you a balanced starting point. From there, you can adjust the amount according to your taste.
Enjoy it fresh. Drip coffee is best enjoyed shortly after brewing, while the flavours and aromas are still at their most expressive.
